The Happiness Project

I am currently reading a book titled ‘The Happiness Project’ by Gretchen Rubin, and I found something very interesting for me in its first chapter.

It said that one of the best ways to make us feel ‘something’ was by pretending like we really feel that ‘something’. Most of us think that we act based on how we feel, but in fact, we often feel because of the way we act.

Just like when we started a day with such a bad incident that made us feel annoyed all the day or we just had our mood getting worse and worse by the time, then the best way to enhance our happiness level was by acting that we were happy. Forcing ourselves to smile and laugh (even if we didn’t really want to), because those artificial smile and laughter could unconsciously bring us happier emotion.

And vice versa. If we frowned and acted like we were angry or gloomy even when we were actually happy, our mood level would decrease and we would really feel dejected.

Act the way you want to feel.

I tried that already, and trust me, it works! :D  *bukaniklanminumanotot
